Welcome to the Tiny Island of BorneoBrunei Darussalam
Hari Untuk Semua baik! (Good Day to all). Here I am again sharing and posting this little Adventure of mine in "Brunei" on 2015.
Well... my tour and adventure wasn't difficult since my sister was living and got married in Brunei so, I got the chance to have a road trips going to places and of course taking photos in Brunei. One of the reason I visited this country is I haven't seen my sister for so long even up to her giving birth of her first cute daughter that turns 3 years old when I first met her. Take a look!
See?? so sweet, adorable and pretty like auntie (wink).
so much for that, I know you have been wanting to see of the photos that I took during my adventure. Here's one of those.
Tadaaann!! HAHAHA..it was still Hari raya when I first arrived on August 2015 in Brunei, The Country Celebrates Hari raya for 1 month its like "Christmas" season in PH but they don't celebrate Christmas ,its a big NO! NO! to them to celebrate Christmas in Brunei... if caught celebrating it, practicing or wearing costume of Christmas surely a penalty and sanctioned serve for it! so, better watch out!. Hari raya is where Muslims celebrates and give thanks to their Allah. So, Please Dont ask why Im wearing this OOTD HAHAHA. Were going to visit a Muslim family (sister's friends) who invited us to eat at their house for Lunch. That's how they celebrate Hari Raya, theyre going to invite friends just like a "FIESTA", were there are lots of food being prepared and you will meet other Muslim friends. Chika diri chika didto! in a Behave way of course.
One thing that mesmerized me about Hari Raya is after eating and a bit of Hi's, Hello's and other chika, when you are about to leave " AN ENVELOP WERE HANDED TO YOU", I really thought they are asking for Solicitation HAHAHA (sorry for laughing). An envelop handed to the guest when they're going to leave the house and it will be open outside either at your house as long you wont open it in-front of the person who gave it. I was Puzzled! whats in the envelop? Love letter? Thanks letter? or the bill of the food I ate? HAHAHAHA
My sister told me to say thank you to their family friend who gave the envelop, So I did.
when we are in the car, she told me to open the envelop.. and poooof!! shock to the bones!
A 50 brunei Dollar
So that was it? they invite, we ate and they gave?
Literally yes! that's how they celebrate HARI RAYA, they give envelop to their guest after eating and before leaving. SARAP BUHAY! Actually I got 3 envelops loaded with Brunei Money in just 1 day I got a 150 Brunei Dollar... how much more if I 'd stay longer.. Perhaps I got more and more.
By the way here's my sister:
Never mind the two talking men in our back they are not our Body guards!
its the picture of Sultan of Brunei (Your majesty!)
After the Hari Raya thing, We went to some Places in Brunei.
On our way to some places in Brunei, I am also amazed of their Clean roads, When all you can see were mosque, Buildings, high end cars passes by and NO BEGGARS along the road asking for alms or sleeping in every corner. I asked my sister if they ever happened to encounter street vendors and beggars and she told me there's no beggars here in Brunei although there are also low class Bruneian people living some part of Brunei. Wow! Hope PH too..One thing, I don't see motor bike in highways most of the people have cars either high end cars or not. I have seen bike in the most nook part of Brunei, an Indonesian worker biking the area.
